Hollaaaa! How's your day guys? I always hope good!
Okay at this time we will discuss about involuntary memory.
What is involuntary memory? Involuntary memory is like nostalgia or De Javu, for example when you see the rain, you will immediately remember the memorable events when the rain came, such as shelter with a partner when it rains, want to eat Indomie or the fun of playing rain with your friends as a child.
You got it? I hope yes.
You got it? I hope yes.
Okay I will give you some example by using some story. " Estrellita the Little Wishing Star " story and illustration by May M. Tobias.
I choose this story? Because this is definitely familiar with your childhood and certainly this story is related to our topic today, Involuntary memory.
I will tell you the summary about “Estrellita the Little Wishing Star "
In this story, it is told there is a small star who really wants to be a star of hope because his grandmother said that a good star should be a star of hope. (Why did I say that because there was a ribbon on the little star) and once he saw a boy who had the saddest pair of eyes he had ever seen, he wanted to be a star of hope for that child, but he always failed to get his attention because the light he emitted was lacking shine than other stars. The way he had to do it to shine so bright was to spin very fast, faster than other stars. But there is a risk that he will get, that is when hope comes true, the hope star will die. At that moment he hesitated, but he is still wanted to continue to help the sad boy. When he arrived in front of the boy's window, he did what he had to do, which was spinning as fast as possible to emit an extraordinary light, the boy saw it, and he made a request. Soon the request was granted and the boy was very pleased.
So why this story can be involuntary memory?
Because when we were little, if we see the stars that are very shining or falling stars it is not uncommon for your parents say to make a request then maybe your request will be granted. Well maybe until now if you see a shooting star or the most shining star, you will spontaneously make a request right? That is what is meant by Involuntary memory or retrieval involuntary memory (RIM). Recalling the past event when we see a similar event.
